Summer Gas Prices Encourage Online Learning
Sunday July 6, 2008
Filling up the tank on my Nissan Altima cost over fifty dollars this weekend. At these prices, no wonder more students are turning to online classes.
Many are tackling virtual courses for the first time this summer to save on the cost of commuting. News reports in several major cities have reported an increase in local online college enrollments.
These students may miss out on face-to-face interaction, but they could save hundreds of dollars a month. Plus, there's no need to waste time in the car when the weather is so enjoyable.

I have seen a dozen articles relating higher gas prices to the rise in online college enrollments. Its one factor that is being exacerbated by the fact that gas has risen by $1+ in the US since May.
