Graceland University developed its virtual global campus in 2005, and it's quickly becoming the school's most popular educational arm. Graceland focuses its online degrees on two service-oriented fields: nursing and teaching. Students should be prepared to devote 10 to 15 hours a week for a course, including a half-hour four days a week for online class correspondence. Students can register three times a year for nursing school and five times a year for the master's of education program. While the coursework can be completed in cyberspace, the university does request campus attendance once for undergraduates at  what it calls a focus session. It lasts four days. Graduate students must go twice. Graceland is aligned with the Community of Christ but accepts applicants of all beliefs. Graceland touts the eCollege delivery system for online class-taking as point-and-click simplicity.

Graceland University Global Campus is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The nursing degree programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Graceland University Global Campus Online Degrees and Programs:

The school offers a master's of education that focuses on K-12 collaborative learning and teaching. Candidates and non-degree students alike are encouraged to take the three-credit, self-paced  classroom management course taught by Harry and Rosemary Wong, the authors of The First Days of School, which has sold more than 3 million copies. Graceland's nursing options include a Bachelor of Arts in healthcare, a registered nurse to Bachelor of Science in nursing, a master's of nursing, and an accelerated RN-to-MSN track.

Graceland University Global Campus Online Admissions:

Requirements for the nursing programs include RN licensure in good standing, all the right paperwork, and at least a 2.5 grade point average in any previous courses. Up to 28 credits may be accepted. Education candidates need, among other things, a bachelor's degree in an education-focused curriculum, a 3.0 grade point average, a teaching credential and verification of a full-time teaching post. Applicants will also need to stretch their writing muscles for a a one-page essay on how a master's will help them achieve their professional aspirations. William Glasser Institute credits are accepted. A degree from a school outside of the United States and Canada must be analyzed by education credential evaluators.

Graceland University Global Campus Online Costs:

As a general point of reference, undergraduate nursing tuition costs $385 per credit hour, graduate nursing $485 per credit hour, and graduate education $360 per credit hour. General education courses are $285 per credit hour. Fees apply.
