The school also has a few correspondence courses, done through the U.S. mail. Students take two eight-week online courses at a time. The school has a strict attendance policy for online learners: At least one contribution to a discussion thread twice a week is required to receive credit. Missing two weeks results in automatic withdrawal. For full participation credit, Iowa Central students must take part in class four days a week. The curriculum focuses on the basics in business, computers, law enforcement and the health professions. To stay in good standing, students cannot earn less than a C. If they fall short, they need official approval in writing to continue the following semester. On a technical note, AOL and a few other Internet providers don't work well with Iowa Central's online courses, says the school.
