Marist College Online Academics:
Marist College focuses its online programs on master's degrees and degree-completion for undergraduates. The school's eCourses are open to qualified students around the world. The content is transmitted via Marist's e-learning system called Educator. Marist's eCourses for undergrads are eight weeks in length, and up to 15 weeks for graduate students. An online orientation takes 30 minutes to prep students on how to navigate their virtual classrooms. The school tries to keep the learning environment intimate with a 15-to-1 student to instructor ratio. Professors post chat-room office hours, and some give out phone numbers for more personal contract. Marist recommends in the accelerated format that students devote three to four hours a week to their Internet classrooms and eight to 12 hours to homework. Grad students will need to maintain a 3.0 grade-point average in many master's disciplines to obtain a degree. Marist holds the distinction of being the first school in New York state to establish an online master's of business administration.
