Orange, CA 92867 Orange Lutheran High School Online Academics:
Orange Lutheran Online is geared toward college-bound high school students who want to pursue spiritual development as part of their education. The school offers a full high school curriculum, and students must study theology in addition to standard high school subjects like English, science and math.
The OLO program is more structured and interactive than most other online high schools. The coursework is not self-paced: Students are grouped into classes and must log in every weekday to participate in each of their courses. Students can decide what time to log in, however, which means they can fit their studies around a job, travel or other obligations. Each course lasts eight weeks and requires students to contribute regularly to online discussion threads.
According to OLO's Web site, 93% of its graduates go on to earn a college degree. The school prides itself on above-average SAT scores and offers Advanced Placement courses in English, statistics, and European history. Teachers are in frequent contact with students and are available during office hours for learners who need extra help. Students also have access to academic and spiritual counseling and 24-hour tech support. Orange Lutheran High School Online Accreditation:
Orange Lutheran is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation Organization. Orange Lutheran High School Online Degrees and Programs:
To graduate from OLO, students must complete 26 credits, including four in theology and two in physical education. Most courses are worth half a credit, so a student must complete four math courses to earn two full credits in math. Students can graduate in four years if they take summers off or three years if they study year-round.
Students who wish to supplement the coursework they're taking elsewhere can take individual classes. Orange Lutheran High School Online Admissions:
OLO accepts applications throughout the year. The admissions process is fairly rigorous: Applicants have to submit an essay, take a placement test and interview with a school representative. The school also requires several letters of recommendation, including one from a member of the clergy.
Once enrolled, students can begin studying as soon as the next session begins. (The school runs six eight-week sessions per year.) OLO will also accept transfer credits earned at other schools. Orange Lutheran High School Online Costs:
Tuition at OLO is $300 per course ($600 per credit); any required course materials are extra. Students can pay course-by-course or in a lump sum. Interesting Fact:
