The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)

New England Association of Schools and Colleges Basics:

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) is the oldest regional accrediting agency in the nation. It currently offers accreditation to over 2,000 schools in six states.

Regional accreditors are recognized by both the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Regional accreditation is most commonly accepted form of accreditation for both online and brick-and-mortar schools.

Areas Served by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges :

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges accredits schools in the following states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. It also accredits American and international schools worldwide.

Organizations within the New England Association of Schools and Colleges:

The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) accredits colleges and universities in the six states listed above. The Commission on Technical and Career Institutions (CTCI) accredits non-degree granting programs in higher education. The Commission on American and Independent Schools Abroad (CAISA) accredits colleges in foreign countries.

The Commission on Public Elementary and Middle Schools (CPEMS) and the Commission on Public Secondary Schools (CPSS) accredit public schools. The Commission on Independent Schools (CIS) accredits private schools.
