What is an online charter school?

By Jamie Littlefield, About.com

Question: What is an online charter school?
Answer: An online charter school is a public school run by a private organization. Charter schools are given government money, need to follow government regulations, and are typically accredited. These schools are generally under the direction of local school districts. Because they do not follow the traditional leadership structure of regular public schools, they usually have more freedom to be creative with their set-up and curriculum. You will not need to pay tuition at a charter school.
