Excelsior College Academics:

Excelsior College is one of the "big three" online schools known for giving life experience credit. They have a generous credit transfer policy and create an individual degree completion plan for each student enrolled. Students at Excelsior College may get credit for their current knowledge and life experience by taking exams or completing portfolio assessments. Since much of the study required is done without direct supervision, students enrolled in Excelsior should be self motivated and able to work independently.

Excelsior College Accreditation:

Excelsior College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, a regional accreditor.

Excelsior College Degrees and Programs:

Students at Excelsior College may earn associates, bachelors, or masters degrees in fields such as: Nursing, Health Science, Liberal Arts, or Business and Technology. Programs of note include their online MBA, their BS in Computer Technology, and their BS in Marketing. Students can take Excelsior’s online classes or transfer credit from other regionally accredited schools. They can also get credit for taking a variety of exams including Excelsior’s own tests, tests reviewed by the American Council on Education, and the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Excelsior also offers a portfolio-based assessment.

Excelsior College Admissions :

Gaining acceptance to Excelsior College is not difficult; almost everyone is admitted. Prospective students submit a simple online form as well as transcripts from all colleges they have attended. Some programs also require minimal additions such as a brief essay or a resume. There is a $75 - $100 application fee.

Excelsior College Costs:

Excelsior College operates on a fee-based tuition system. Undergraduate students pay an enrollment fee between $495 and $890 and a recurring annual service fee of $440. Undergraduate tuition charges are $290 per credit. Graduate students pay a $215 annual student services fee and a tuition charge of $390 per credit. Additional fees are charged for other college services. Because most Excelsior students enroll with transfer credits, total program costs vary. Federal financial aid is available.

Students who enjoy face-to-face interaction can take courses at a local, regionally accredited college and transfer the credits to Excelsior.
